September 4, 5 & 6 at the Southern NM Fairgrounds enjoy the Harvest Wine Festival featuring New Mexico wines, arts, crafts, specialty food products, and food for every taste. This is a short 1 1/2 hour drive trip to Alamogordo from Las Cruces where visitors can explore the beautiful sparkling white sand dunes and experience magical moonlight filled evenings under the stars. The park stays open until 11pm for visitors and offers a Sunset Stroll Nature Walk at 7 pm. Evening program given at 8:30 p.m. at the amphitheater at the end of the Dunes Drive. Park Fees are $3.00 per person ages 17 and over. Ranger-guided trips to Lake Lucero, the source of the white sands, are also held regularly.
